U R Invited

A few of us from around these parts are getting together for an adult beverage at W. A. Frost at 8PM this Thursday. I know it's short notice but we would love to have you stop by. I'm the guy who looks like a stalker wearing a baseball cap.

W.A. Frost is in Saint Paul, MN, USA. Email me if you are coming and want directions at the address in my blog bio.

If you're coming from out-of-town, say Brazil, I have room to put you up at my place.

So far there are four of us, three of whom comment on this blog and one of whom writes it.

I would love to see you there.

Hey, I'm going to come. I know cK, so he can vouch for me. Or, you know, pass on the appropriate warnings. Random probably unhelpful information, including a picture, is available here:

Looking forward to it!

If it's a Yankees cap, a DNA test will be in order because there is no way we can be related. A stalker, maybe. But not a Yankees fan. ;)

If only! My Thursday nights are all spoken for.

I look forward to meeting you!

The previous comment was directed as sassmaster because I didn't realize there were more comments; doh!

But I look forward to meeting you both, too, although it sounds like it won't be Thursday. Lo, if you want we can schedule a non-Thursday Death Commandos (or whatever cK calls it) get-together later on. Let me know.

Heather, I should have said baseball-style cap. The hat says "Harley Davidson of Kuwait" in English and Arabic on the front of it. My brother brought it back from Kuwait and I cherish it even if I wasn't a so much of a cap-wearer prior to getting it.

"directed at" I meant. That's it, I'm outa here.

Who sang that "I'll be there" song? Because I'll be there, Hulles. Because your name rhymes with fools! (At least, from me it does.)

I pity the fool who don't come to Frost!

I can vouch for the mC, aka the Sassmaster. She's awesome and throws great dinner parties (though maybe I shouldn't mention that among strangers?).

I love her dearly and am glad she's coming. Hey, mC. I look forward to seeing you there...and not just 'cause it's in the future!

Much as I would love to join y'all, the commute would really kick my ass. Hope someday to meet everyone in person, but sadly, it won't be this week.

Who sang that "I'll be there" song?

That would be The Jackson 5, cK. And I'll be singin' it on Thursday. At the top of my lungs. At Frost. Just for you.

Mr. Blackmoore, I'm still waiting for my video of you screaming and not sleeping.

cK said...

The Jackson 5! I've even heard of them, I have. Thanks!

And, yes, see you and crew on Thursday. (I may even invite another esthetician just to have the potential of an eyebrow posing contest set to the dualing banjos song....)

Bring it. I will win. :)

Arrgh!!! Can't sleep, so I thought I would check out who's going to be at the HBAS party on Thursday. It might have been a foregone conclusion, but you know that I'll be there.

These are samples of questions going through my mind as I lay in bed, wide awake: What color is sepia? Is it a reddish color? Is sepia even a color?

Jen, maybe you and that other esthetician can bring your wax and "pull off papers" (not sure what they call those), and each of you can do one of my eyebrows at the bar, and then a panel of judges could determine the winner. Who am I putting my money on? JEN!

FYI: Sepia is a brownish-grey color. I was close. Apparently you can also use it to refer to a genus and subgenus of cephalopods, a grouping of cuttlefish. Good to know.

Thanks for the kind words cK -- I'm all a-quiver with anticipation, but I'll work it off with the shoveling tonight, I suppose. Oy.

I did a sepia tone treatment to photos I took of a junkyard--I think it was officially called an antiques lot--in northern Illinois in high school...the year I was shooting pictures for credit instead of doing something like physics.

Not that physics is the problem, but I wonder if I wouldn't walk into so many door frames had I studied more of those scientific properties at some point.

Sorry you couldn't sleep. But maybe Theresa didn't sleep well either? and you're neck in neck in the competition?

Sadly, Theresa got a full night's sleep, and she woke feeling refreshed and ready to push through the last day of the comp. I am going to give it all my efforts, though. Theresa! (kind of like when Jerry would refer to Newman!)

I did get back to sleep at about 3:30 or so, you know, using "Shakara"(as you might recall from a previous conversation). I tried the "Hail Mary's" first, but that didn't work, so I had to resort to "Shakara".

I am going to try to get the day off tomorrow (if the on-call person can cover me), and then I'll be well-rested and in full force for the HBAS meeting!

Day off! Woo-woo! You can eat ice cream, see a movie, ride a roller coaster, walk on the beach...just like in the movie montages!

Ah, if only a walk on the beach were an option! More than likely: sleep very late, work out, tidy up apartment, read, go to the grocery... Hmmm... boring until the later part, I expect.

Erin, I appreciate your confidence in me. And I would never do you wrong. It would be a very safe bet.

Sorry you couldn't sleep. I totally understand how that goes. I couldn't sleep on Monday night. :(

I'd very much like to join you all but I have Deutsch Klasse that night. I'm thinking the commute from Arkansas might take a little while, so a notice further advance would be appreciated next time. ;)

Hulles! I have a favor to ask of you (non-sexual and harmless); can I email you about it?

cK said...

Die deutsche Sprache macht Spass! Sprechen Sie, bitte!

Tschues.

Everyone, as you were. Carry on.

Missy, of course you can email me anytime at the address in my blog bio, although I'm having some email problems today so there might be a slight delay in a response. And sorry you won't be there.

You guys are funny; I look forward to seeing all who can make it on Thursday.

Missy - you're from Arkansas?! I am also from Arkansas! But, of course, I live here now (St Paul).

PS Go Hogs Go! Woo, Pig Sooie! (and I do "the hands" when I say that)!

ck - Du sprecht für mir eine deutsche Redensart am Donnserstag. Bitte.

Erin - What part of Arkansas are you from? I'm from NW Arkansas, home of the hogs. We'll have to get together and do some hog callin' with 'the hands'.
